The books that make up The Art of Alone are a philosophical examination of how humans interact with each other as well as with and in the world around them.

 

One of the important ideas addressed in the books is the discrepancy between the talents possessed by womenkind and the opportunities afforded them.

 

Another of the ideas introduced is the possibilities for reexamining and redefining masculinity that can occur with thoughtful dialogue between men and women.

 

The Ceopalna Institute was created to advance the ideas contained within the Art of Alone books with one specific focus: to bring together and strengthen communities of artists, throughout the world, with specific emphasis on rural and isolated communities.
